Pacific Palisades

Described as the place "where the mountains meet the sea," Pacific Palisades is set on three miles of bluffs above the Pacific between Santa Monica and Malibu, where sweeping views of Santa Monica Bay take your breath away. At the heart of its splendor and affluence is a quaint small-town atmosphere cherished by the young families and professionals who live here. The Village in the center of town, with its small shops, cafes, and narrow streets, reflects a down-home, relaxed way of life passionately protected by local community groups. The combination of safe streets, good public schools, and a beautiful environment are key in attracting high caliber residents and maintaining the value of the community. The area offers a wide variety of homes and neighborhoods. Palisades Highlands is a somewhat self-contained neighborhood of condos and smaller homes, with its own recreation center and shopping area. The Alphabet Streets south of Sunset are some of the earliest in Palisades history; named after Methodist missionaries, they harken back to the tradition of the first Methodist settlers of the area. Their smaller lots and family homes are a classic destination for Halloween trick-or-treaters. Also to the south of Sunset is Huntington Palisades, a high-end neighborhood with a suburban feel. Divided north and south is the posh Palisades Riviera, its streets named after those in the French and Italian Rivieras, home to the Riviera Country Club. Marquez Knolls, farther west on the mountain upslopes, features large homes with magnificent views. The world famous Getty Villa, former home of J. Paul Getty and the Getty Museum collection, is a notable landmark and tourist destination. Pacific Palisades borders some of LA's favorite and most-used parks. Rustic Canyon, including Uplifters Ranch, is a collection of small postwar cabins. Will Rogers State Historic Park and Polo Fields bring many to play frisbee and spend time with their families. Temescal Canyon Park, Santa Ynez Canyon Park and Rivas Canyon Park provides children's play areas with hiking trails close by.
